Rollie Goalie Launches Innovative Off-Ice Goalie Slide Plates for Training and Game Play

For Immediate Release

July 29, 2026 | Buffalo, New York

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Rollie Goalie has announced the launch of its new off-ice goalie slide plates , a versatile training and game-play system created to help hockey goalies perform controlled butterfly slides and goalie movements away from traditional ice surfaces.

Designed for use during off-ice goalie training and roller, ball and DEK hockey play, Rollie Goalie transforms modern goalie pads into a multi-surface movement system. Goalies can train and play on synthetic ice, smooth athletic flooring, gym floors, roller hockey surfaces, DEK hockey courts and other compatible surfaces.

The product was developed to address a familiar challenge for goalies: quality ice time is limited, but meaningful improvement requires repetition. Rollie Goalie gives goalies another way to work on butterfly movement, recoveries, positioning and movement confidence between practices and games.

“Our goal was not simply to create another product that slides. We wanted to develop a complete movement system that gives goalies more opportunities to train, play and improve away from the rink.”

— Michael Chavanne, Rollie Goalie

Two Performance Modes for Different Playing Surfaces

A central feature of the Rollie Goalie system is its dual-surface design. Instead of requiring goalies to use one movement configuration everywhere, Rollie Goalie can be configured for different training and playing environments.

Bearing Mode

Bearing Mode uses replaceable acetal bearings to provide smooth, multidirectional movement on compatible hard surfaces, including synthetic ice, smooth sport flooring, gymnasium floors and other suitable training areas.

Pro Roll Chamber™ Mode

Pro Roll Chamber Mode allows Rollie Goalie to be configured for movement on compatible open-grid athletic court surfaces commonly used for roller, ball and DEK hockey.

Additional product information, compatible surface guidance and frequently asked questions are available in the Rollie Goalie FAQ .

Dedicated Sizes for Adult and Junior Goalies

Rollie Goalie is offered in dedicated sizes rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all plate configuration:

  • Adult: Designed for goalie pads measuring 32 inches and larger.
  • Junior/Intermediate: Designed for goalie pads measuring 26 to 32 inches.
  • Color choices: Available in black and white.

The size-specific design is intended to provide an appropriate plate footprint, balance and fit for goalies at different stages of development.

Designed Around the Equipment Goalies Already Use

Each Rollie Goalie system includes upper and lower slide plates, acetal bearings, Pro Roll Chambers, cinch straps, DuraGrip™ fasteners, buckles and an installation guide.

The attachment system is designed to work with most modern goalie pads while helping protect the pad surface. Rollie Goalie can be removed and reinstalled, allowing goalies to continue using the same pads for ice hockey, off-ice training and other forms of play.

Step-by-step instructions and product videos are available through the Rollie Goalie installation center .

Built for Long-Term Use

Hockey equipment is exposed to repeated impact, friction and demanding playing conditions. Rollie Goalie was therefore engineered with serviceability in mind. Bearings, straps, fasteners and other wear components can be replaced rather than requiring goalies to replace the complete system.

Structural and other qualifying non-wear components are backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal intended use. Normal wear items and damage caused by misuse, improper installation or unauthorized modification are excluded from warranty coverage.

Supporting More Opportunities to Train

Rollie Goalie was created around a simple idea: goalies should have more opportunities to develop movement skills without being limited exclusively by rink schedules and available ice time.

Young goalies can use additional repetitions to build familiarity and confidence. Experienced goalies can use off-ice sessions to reinforce movement patterns and remain active between scheduled practices. Roller, ball and DEK hockey goalies can use Rollie Goalie during training and game play on suitable surfaces.

The development story behind the product is available in Why We Created Rollie Goalie .
